Baked Cheesy Pasta

This is one of my go-to dinners. If I’m really on the ball, I’ll even make two and freeze one. That doesn’t happen a lot though.

What’s really awesome about this baked pasta is how versatile it is. Sometimes I throw in some mini pepperoni (kids love that!), or green and red peppers, onions, different meats, different cheeses. Pretty much whatever you want to add, you could. This time around I went pretty basic because my kids tend to be picky. We were not disappointed though. Can you ever go wrong with cheese, pasta, hamburger, spaghetti sauce, all baked together and topped with more cheese? I think not.

Baked Cheesy Pasta

I would love to say this is a ReiniDays original recipe, but I have a feeling it’s floating around somewhere on or I just can’t remember since we’ve been eating this forever.

  • 1 box pasta (I used Whole Wheat Penne)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 jar spaghetti sauce
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease a 9×13 baking dish.
  2. Cook pasta al dente. Drain, and set aside.
  3. While cooking pasta, brown ground beef with seasonings and garlic cloves.
  4. In a large bowl, mix your spaghetti sauce, 1 cup mozzarella cheese, cooked pasta, and cooked hamburger.
  5. Transfer to your greased baking dish and top with remaining cheeses.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Enjoy!

  1. I can see why this is a go-to dinner! You really can’t go wrong with these ingredients. Always yummy and filling! :)

    • For sure! Delicious, and I love when the kids will eat it!

  2. Our kids love this too – I do it with leftover pasta (I always make way too much to start with!) and sometimes freeze it too. Wishing I had some right now….

    • Oooh! I never even thought to do it with leftover pasta. What a great idea!

  3. I think everyone needs a “go to” recipe like this. When I make a dish that is very similar my husband goes nuts for it – it’s one of his favorites! Perfect for this hectic time of year too.

    • Yeah, it’s really good for this time of the year. I realize after a day of baking I don’t feel like making much for dinner. I think last night we had popcorn. Haha.

  4. Ah, there’s something about all those carbs and cheese that makes me happy :) I used to make these all the time for our bible study group….it’s comforting and feeds a crowd! Yours looks so delicious :)

    • Cheese and carbs makes everyone happy! And sugar. I think I’ve been eating too many cookies. I kinda can’t wait until January, and then all my baking craziness should be over.
