Chili Lime Tortilla Chips

I’ve been making my own tortilla chips for awhile now. They’re so easy, and so delicious.

These are perfect for snacking. In fact, these are my kid’s favorite snack to eat. I have to hide some of them if I want any left at the end of the day.

These are a tad bit spicy because of the chili powder. They also have a little kick to them before of the lime juice. On one baking sheet I spritzed some with extra lime juice before baking, and they were soooo good. But it really depends on how much of a kick you want. To me, more lime is better.

Chili Lime Tortilla Chips

recipe adapted from Food Network Magazine April 2011

Ingredients:

  • 10 fajita-sized tortillas, cut into 8 wedges
  • 2 T olive oil
  • 1 T chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • pinch of cayenne
  • 1/2 tsp fresh lime juice, plus for more spritzing if you want

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, toss your cut up tortillas with your olive oil. Then mix in your chili powder, salt, and cayenne. And then sprinkle your lime juice over the tortillas, and toss really well until all the tortillas are covered.
  3. Spread tortillas without overlapping them on the two baking sheets. Sprinkle more salt and lime juice if wanted.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  5. Enjoy!

  1. Wow, these look so good! I love how you have the basket just like in the mexican restaurants :) Lime chips are our favorite, we are addicted to the Tostitos version. Will have to make our own, I’m sure they are even more delicious!

    • I LOVE those lime chips! They are easily my favorite.

  2. I’m crazy about those lime chips too! So glad to find a recipe to replace them! My older daughter will be so excited too – she really likes the lime tostitos! I bet these are perfect with some fresh guac!

    • Mmmm… yum! I wish these were a little more salty/lime-y like those ones from the store! I think I might try putting some lime juice in with salt, and see what happens!

  3. These sound so easy and so yummy! I would definitely add extra lime juice. I wonder how whole wheat tortillas would taste as chips…

    • I usually do whole wheat and they’re good. They just don’t get as crispy as the white ones.
