Mini Baked Cinnamon Bun Donuts with Vanilla Cream Cheese Glaze

Who likes cinnamon buns? Or cinnamon rolls? How about a cinnamon bun donut?

Umm.. yes, to all of the above! I bought a mini donut pan a couple of weeks ago and have been having tons of fun playing around with it. These were one of my favorites.

These taste just like a cinnamon bun, but without all the work. They’re yummy, easy, and so cute to look at!

Mini Baked Cinnamon Bun Donuts with Vanilla Cream Cheese Glaze

recipe slightly adapted from Averie Cooks


  • 2 cups flour (I did half whole wheat, half all-purpose. Feel free to do whatever floats your boat)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 & 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 T butter, melted

for the glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • about a 1/4 cup of milk, or until you get the consistency you want


  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease a mini donut pan (or you could use a mini muffin pan or a regular sized muffin pan!).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugars, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Add in milk, eggs, vanilla extract and melted butter. Stir to combine.
  3. You can use a pastry bag, or a ziploc pan with a corner cut off, to pipe the batter into the mini donut pan. I used a spoon and was just careful. I fill my pan about halfway with batter, and get about 24 mini donuts.
  4. Bake for about 11 minutes or until done. Use a toothpick to check and make sure donuts are done.
  5. Let rest in pan for about 5 minutes before moving to a wire rack.
  6. For the glaze: Combine the powdered sugar, cream cheese, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and milk in a small bowl. Whisk until you get the desired consistency, adding more milk if needed.
  7. Dip the donuts into the glaze, and add a final dusting of cinnamon if desired.
  8. Enjoy!

    • Haha! I had a problem not eating the whole pan. And actually it made two pans, so I probably did eat 12 mini donuts at some point…
