Everywhere I look it seems like the enemy is trying to take out marriages. But we have a God who is bigger than the enemy and bigger than our problems.

These are just my thoughts about what I see going on around me. Take them with a grain of salt and grace. Thank you. :)

You know why I think we have problems in marriages besides our own selfishness, and other issues? I think the enemy wants to take out powerful marriages. God has a great plan for everyone and if the enemy can get us to fight with each other and believe his lies than he’s won.

But God has a plan for us all. A great plan. He gives us a hope. He gives us a future.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”– Jeremiah 29:11

He restores all things. If things have been bad, He will turn them around for His (and your!) good. If you have been weary, he will renew your strength.

“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”– Isaiah 40:31

And I leave you with this:

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”– John 16:33

  1. I agree Jill. The enemy knows that if he can take out a marriage, then a lot of times he can take out the whole family, kids included. It’s like a 2 for 1 for him. I know in my own circle of friends it seems as though marriages are under serious attack lately. But I love the scriptures you shared. He has given us everything we need. I am SO thankful for his love and his mercy.

    • He HAS given us everything we need! He’s so good!

  2. I think I really needed to read this right now! As a newlywed myself (3 months yesterday!) I often get SO discouraged – it seems so many of my friends’ marriages are struggling to keep it together. And some of these are relatively new marriages as well. It’s tough to feel helpless about them, but I have to remind myself to just keep praying about it, and also to remember that prayer is powerful, and God DOES restore!

    • While I was talking with one of my girlfriends a few weeks ago I felt like the Lord told me her word for 2013 was hope. It can be so easy to think that things will never change, and that things are hopeless but thank God that He does change things and He does restore! :)
